Some runs change you. Not the fast ones, not the PRs — the ones where you’re deep in the hill country at mile 18, legs shot, sun dropping behind the cedar, and something in you goes quiet. That’s the run that started this.
Bexar Country grew out of a simple frustration: San Antonio’s trail running scene was alive and thriving, but scattered. Race information lived in a dozen different places. The best podcast episodes disappeared into feeds without a trace. The trails were out there — Friedrich, Government Canyon, Hill Country State Natural Area — but finding them, understanding them, and connecting with other people running them wasn’t easy.
So we built the thing we wished existed.
What We’re Building
Bexar Country is a home base for trail and ultra runners in San Antonio and the surrounding hill country. Three things sit at the center of it:
Trail Intelligence — An interactive map of the best trails in and around Bexar County, with difficulty ratings, elevation, and everything you need to pick your next run.
Races — A single place to find upcoming trail races and ultras in the region, from 5Ks to 50K+ sufferfests, with registration links and full race details.
The Drop Bag — Long runs are better with good ideas rattling around in your head. The Drop Bag pulls the best trail and ultra running podcast episodes and distills them into key takeaways — so the knowledge sticks even after the miles pile up.
This Is the Trail. Run Wild.
We’re not here to gatekeep trail running or make it more complicated than it is. Lace up. Get out there. Find your trails. We’ll keep the lights on.
Bexar Country is built by runners, for runners — in San Antonio, Texas.
